At CRH we distinguish between Carbon “Fixation” and “Conversion”. This issue comes into the picture primarily when it comes to the ways in which we access Captured Carbon as opposed to Atmospheric Carbon.
For Atmospheric Carbon, CRH relies on Biology (rather then Chemistry) in the form of biomass, for CO2 Fixation, as we believe that plants are best able to capture CO2 at the dilute concentrations it is found in the air. However, the processing of the biomass into CRH Energy products (Biomass Conversion) is done chemically (rather than biologically), hence, it constitutes part of the CRH vision. The fuels we produce from the chemical processing and conversion of biomass are called CRH Cellulosic Fuels.
